- Independence Day celebrations are usually outdoors and they include: parades, concerts, festivals, picnics, barbecues, and fireworks in the evening.
- The barbecue items usually include burgers, hot dogs, chicken, ribs, garden & potato salads, baked beans and watermelon.
- Places are decorated with flags and other patriotic stuff and people wear red, white & blue, the colors of the American flag.
- In 1782 Congress, selected The Eagle to be the National emblem.
- Thirty-two cities are named “Eagle” — after the majestic bird that serves as our national symbol.
- Benjamin Franklin, however, did not like the choice and preferred the turkey as the US national symbol.
- Eleven cities have “Independence” in their name.
- Estimated population in 1776: 2,5 million people.

- The stars on the original American flag were arranged in a circle to show that all colonies were equal.
